Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate or consultation?
Standard estimates and consultations are free — the arborist looks at your tree and gives you the exact price before any work. A formal written report may have a fee, which we'd confirm first.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the tree's size and what it needs, so the arborist gives you the exact price up front after looking at it — and the estimate is free.
How soon can you come out?
We can usually schedule soon, and for anything that looks like a safety hazard we'll prioritize getting an arborist out quickly.
My tree looks sick / is it dying?
I understand the worry — the arborist will examine the tree closely and go over what's happening and the best plan to help it. Let's get a visit set up.
Can you save my tree / do I need to remove it?
That's exactly what an arborist is for — he'll assess whether it can be preserved and give you honest options, whether that's treatment or removal, with the exact price.
I think there are bugs or a disease on my tree
The arborist will inspect it and identify the right treatment plan on site — no guessing over the phone. Let's get him out to take a look.
A big limb is cracked or hanging — can you help?
Yes — please keep people and cars out from under it for now, and we'll get an arborist out promptly to handle it safely.
Do you do pruning / trimming the right way?
Yes — we prune to proper arboricultural standards to keep trees healthy and strong, no topping. The arborist will go over the plan and exact price with you.
Do you protect trees during construction?
Absolutely — we create tree-protection and preservation plans so mature trees survive construction. The arborist can assess the site and lay it out.
Can you appraise the value of a tree?
Yes, we provide professional tree appraisals for insurance, legal, or property purposes — let me have the office go over the details and any fee for a written report.
Do you cable or brace weak trees?
Yes, we install cabling and bracing to support weak or split-prone limbs and stems. The arborist will assess whether it's the right approach and give you the exact price.
Are you certified / insured?
Yes, we work as certified arborists and carry insurance — the arborist can go over credentials and coverage when he's out with you.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll grab your address and get an arborist scheduled to come take a look.
Do you handle residential and commercial / large properties?
Yes, we work with homeowners, businesses, HOAs, and larger properties — just let us know the setting and we'll take care of you.
⚠️ Safety first
- Limb or tree touching or near a power line: Please stay well back and keep everyone away — never touch a tree or limb on a power line. Call 911 and your electric utility right away, and once it's safe we'll get an arborist out to you.
- Tree or large limb down on a house, car, or person: If anyone is hurt or trapped, call 911 first. Please keep everyone clear of the tree and anything under it, and I'll mark this urgent and get a crew headed your way.
- Cracked or hanging limb over an area people use: Please keep people and cars out from under it until we get there — a hanging limb can drop without warning. I'll get an arborist scheduled as a priority.
- Tree leaning noticeably more after a storm, soil heaving at base: That's worth treating carefully — please keep away from the base and the fall zone, and we'll get an arborist out promptly to assess it safely.
Know the terms
- Certified arborist
- A tree professional credentialed by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA); trained in tree health and safe care.
- Crown thinning / raising
- Selectively removing branches to reduce weight and wind load, or lifting the lower canopy for clearance.
- Cabling and bracing
- Support hardware installed to hold weak or split-prone limbs and stems together.
- Deep-root fertilization
- Feeding a tree's roots directly in the soil to improve health and vigor.
- Topping
- Cutting large limbs back to stubs — a harmful practice a good arborist won't do.
- Critical root zone
- The soil area around a tree where most of its feeder roots live; damaging it, often during construction, can kill the tree.
