Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate?
In-home estimates are free — the estimator looks at your basement and goals and gives you the exact price and a plan before any work.
How much to finish a basement?
It depends on the size and what you want done, so the estimator gives you the exact price after seeing the space — and the consultation is free.
How long does it take?
Most basements take a few weeks depending on the size and whether a bathroom's involved — the estimator will give you a clear timeline with the exact price.
My basement gets damp / has had water — can it still be finished?
Often yes — but we make sure the space is dry and protected first, so it stays that way. The estimator will assess the moisture and go over the right plan for your basement.
Can you add a bathroom down there?
Yes, we add basement bathrooms — the estimator will check the plumbing situation and let you know the best approach and the exact price.
Can you make a legal bedroom in the basement?
Yes — a basement bedroom needs a proper egress window for a safe exit, and we build it to code. The estimator will factor that into the plan.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes, we handle the permits and build to code with inspections — that protects you and your home's value. The estimator will walk you through it.
Do you do waterproofing and sump pumps too?
Yes — we handle waterproofing and sump pumps so the finished space stays dry. The estimator will check what's needed for your basement.
Can you build a bar / theater / office / rec room?
Absolutely — we build out bars, home theaters, offices, gyms, and rec rooms. Tell us your vision and the estimator will design it and give you the exact price.
What kind of flooring works in a basement?
We use flooring that holds up below grade, like luxury vinyl or tile over a proper subfloor — the estimator will go over the best options for your space.
What's your warranty?
We stand behind our work — the estimator will go over the exact warranty for your project when he's out.
Do you offer financing?
Good question — we often have financing for larger projects; let me have the office confirm the current options and go over them with you.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll grab your address and set up a free in-home consultation.
Do you also do the electrical and HVAC?
Yes — we handle the electrical, lighting, and extending heat into the space as part of the finish. The estimator will include it all in the plan and price.
⚠️ Safety first
- Active flooding or standing water in the basement now: Let's handle the water first — please stay out of standing water near any outlets or the furnace, and if it's safe, shut off power to the basement at the breaker. We can get someone out to help before we talk about finishing.
- Sewage backup or foul smell: Please keep everyone away from it — sewage backup is a health hazard. Avoid using drains for now, and we'll get someone out to address it before any finishing work.
- Gas smell near the furnace or water heater: Please don't touch any switches, get everyone out of the house, and call your gas company or 911 from outside. Once it's cleared, we can look at the basement.
- Visible mold and someone in the home feeling sick: If mold seems to be affecting someone's health, that's worth taking seriously — keep the area ventilated and limit time down there. The estimator can assess it, and we handle proper remediation before finishing over anything.
- Planning a bedroom with no egress window: Good to know — a basement bedroom needs a proper egress window so there's a safe way out in an emergency, and we build that to code as part of the project.
