Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate?
Estimates are completely free — a specialist looks at your site, goes over the options, and gives you the exact price before any work is done.
How much does a carport cost?
It depends on the size, metal or wood, the roof style, and the foundation, so we look at your site and give you the exact price up front — and the estimate is free.
How soon can you build it?
Prefab metal carports can go up pretty quickly once permitted; custom builds take longer. The specialist will give you a clear timeline for your project.
Metal or wood — which do you do?
We do both — metal is durable and great value, wood matches a home's look. The specialist will help you pick what fits your needs and budget.
Do you build RV or boat covers?
Yes, we build tall RV and boat covers — the specialist will size it for your vehicle and make sure it's anchored and rated for wind. We'll quote it free.
Attached or freestanding?
We do both attached and freestanding carports — attached ones tie into your house and we flash them so they don't leak. We'll come look and quote it free.
Do I need a permit?
Many areas need a permit and a wind or snow rating, and we handle that as part of the job so it's done right and to code.
Can you install on gravel or dirt?
We can install on a slab, gravel, or dirt, and we anchor it properly for your surface and wind — the specialist will recommend the best setup.
Can you repair storm damage?
We repair storm-damaged and older carports — if it's sagging or leaning please keep vehicles and people out from under it, and we'll get out to inspect and quote it.
Can you enclose my carport into a garage?
Yes, we enclose carports into garages with walls and a garage door — the specialist will go over the options and give you a free quote.
Do you build patio covers?
We build patio-style covers too — tell me the spot and size and we'll come out and quote it free.
How big can you build it?
We build them in all sizes, from a single car to multiple vehicles or a big RV — the specialist will measure your space and vehicles to size it right.
Do you do commercial carports?
Yes, we do commercial carports and covered parking as well as homes — tell me about the project and we'll get you scheduled.
What's your warranty?
Our carports come with a warranty — the specialist will go over the exact coverage on the structure and workmanship.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll grab your address and set up a free on-site look.
⚠️ Safety first
- A carport sagging, leaning, or partially collapsed after a storm: Please move any vehicles out from under it if you safely can, and keep people away — a damaged carport can come down without warning. Don't try to prop it up yourself; we'll get out to inspect it safely.
- Loose or flying panels in high wind: In this wind, please keep everyone clear of the carport and any loose panels — sheet metal can blow off and hurt someone. Once it's safe we'll come out and secure or repair it.
- A carport that came loose from its anchors: If it's lifting or shifting off its anchors, please stay out from under it and keep vehicles clear until we can re-anchor it properly. We'll get a specialist out to make it safe.
- A downed power line touching or near the carport: Please stay well back — at least the length of a car — and keep everyone away, and call your power company or 911 right now. Don't touch the carport or anything the line is contacting. We'll help once it's safe.
Know the terms
- Attached vs. freestanding
- Whether the carport ties into your house roofline or stands on its own posts.
- Vertical vs. regular roof
- Panel direction on a metal carport — vertical roofs shed rain and snow far better, best in wet or snowy areas.
- Anchoring
- How the carport is secured to the ground or slab so wind can't lift it; the type depends on the surface.
- Wind / snow rating
- The certified load the structure is built to withstand, often required by local code.
- Enclosure / conversion
- Adding walls and a garage door to turn an open carport into a closed garage.
- Slab vs. ground mount
- Whether the carport sits on a concrete pad or is anchored into gravel or dirt.
