Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate / to come out?
Estimates are completely free — our electrician comes out, looks at your panel and setup, and gives you the exact price before any work is done.
How soon can you install / schedule?
We can usually schedule a visit within a day or two, sooner for anything urgent — I'll find the soonest time that works for you.
How much to install an EV charger?
It depends on how far the charger is from your panel and whether the panel has room, so the electrician looks on site and gives you the exact price up front — and the estimate is free.
Do you install Tesla Wall Connectors?
Yes, we install Tesla Wall Connectors along with all the other major brands — the electrician can hardwire it wherever works best for you.
Do you install a specific brand / any charger?
We install all the major charger brands, and if you don't have one yet, the electrician can recommend a good fit for your car and home.
Do I need a Level 2 charger / what's the difference?
Most folks go with a Level 2 charger for much faster overnight charging — the electrician can walk you through what makes sense for your car and how you drive.
My charger stopped working / won't charge
We can help with that — the electrician will check the charger and the circuit and get it working again, with the price up front.
It keeps tripping the breaker
That's a good one to have checked — please avoid repeatedly resetting it, and our electrician will look at the circuit and sort it out safely.
The outlet or plug is hot / looks burnt
Please stop charging on it and switch off that breaker if you can reach it safely — that needs a professional look. We'll get an electrician out to check it and make it safe.
Will my electrical panel handle it / do I need an upgrade?
Good question — the electrician does a quick load check on site to see if your panel has room or would need an upgrade, and gives you the exact options and price.
Can you install it outside / in a carport?
Yes, we do outdoor and carport installs with weather-rated equipment — the electrician will find the best spot and give you a free estimate.
Do you do commercial / multiple chargers?
We do — we handle commercial and multi-charger installs as well as homes. Tell me a little about the property and we'll get you scheduled.
Are there rebates or tax credits?
There often are, depending on your utility and location — the electrician can point you toward what may apply, though you'll want to confirm the details with the program itself.
Are you licensed / do you pull permits?
Yes — we're licensed and handle permits and inspection where required, so the install is done safely and to code.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll just grab your address and get an electrician headed your way.
⚠️ Safety first
- Charger, outlet, or plug sparking, smoking, or burning smell: Please stop using it right away and step back — if you can safely reach the breaker for that circuit, switch it off. Don't touch the charger or outlet, and we'll get an electrician out to you quickly. If you see flames or smoke that's spreading, call 911.
- Outlet or connector hot to the touch or discolored/melted: That's something to take seriously — please don't keep charging on it, and switch off that breaker if you can reach it safely. Leave it alone and our electrician will check it out and make it safe.
- Panel or wiring buzzing, or breaker won't stay on: Let's play it safe — please don't keep resetting that breaker, and avoid using the charger for now. We'll get a licensed electrician out to look at the panel and the circuit.
Know the terms
- Level 2 charger
- A 240-volt home charger — the standard for fast overnight charging, much quicker than a regular wall outlet.
- Hardwired vs plug-in
- The charger is either wired directly into the circuit, or plugs into a special 240-volt outlet.
- NEMA 14-50 outlet
- A heavy-duty 240-volt outlet many portable and plug-in EV chargers use.
- Dedicated circuit
- A separate breaker and wiring that serves only the charger, so it doesn't share power with other things.
- Panel / load calculation
- Checking whether the home's electrical panel has enough spare capacity for the charger, or needs an upgrade.
- Wall Connector
- Tesla's hardwired home charger; we also install ChargePoint, Wallbox, and other brands.
