Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate?
The in-home estimate is completely free — the installer measures your space, goes over material options, and gives you the exact price before any work is done.
How much does new flooring cost?
It depends a lot on the material you choose and the size and condition of the space, so we measure it in person and give you an exact price up front — and the estimate is free.
How soon can you start / do the job?
We can usually set up a free estimate within a few days, and the installer will give you a clear timeline for the work once they've seen the space.
What kinds of flooring do you install?
We install pretty much everything — hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank, tile, and carpet — and we'll help you pick what fits the room and your budget.
Can you refinish my hardwood instead of replacing it?
Often, yes — if it's solid hardwood there's usually good wood to sand and refinish. The installer will take a look and let you know whether refinishing or replacing makes more sense.
My floor is squeaky or uneven — can you fix that?
We can definitely look into that — the installer will check what's going on underneath and go over the best fix, with the exact price before any work.
Do you move the furniture and remove old flooring?
Yes, we can handle moving furniture and tearing out and hauling away the old flooring — the installer will include all of that in your estimate.
Can you match my existing floor / repair one area?
We'll do our best — matching depends on the exact product, so if you know the brand or type it helps. The installer will assess it and go over your options.
Do you do bathrooms and kitchens / waterproof floors?
Yes — for kitchens, baths, and basements we'll recommend waterproof options like luxury vinyl or tile that hold up to moisture, and explain what works best for each space.
Do you do commercial jobs?
Yes, we handle commercial flooring as well as homes, and we can schedule around your business hours to keep disruption down.
What's your warranty?
We stand behind our installation, and most materials carry a manufacturer warranty too — the installer will go over the exact coverage with you.
Do you offer financing?
That's a good question — let me have the office confirm the current financing and payment options and we'll go over them with you.
How long before I can walk on it / move furniture back?
It depends on the material and finish — some floors are ready right away and refinished hardwood needs some cure time. The installer will give you exact timing for your job.
Do you service my area?
We cover your area — I'll grab your address and get an installer out for a free measure.
⚠️ Safety first
- Active water leak or standing water under the floor: Let's stop the source first — if you can, shut off the water to that area, and keep people off the wet floor so no one slips. Once it's dry we'll assess the flooring; if it's a lot of water you may want a water cleanup crew right away.
- Strong chemical/finish fumes during a refinishing job: Please keep the area well ventilated and stay out of freshly finished rooms until they've aired out — the fumes can be strong. Our crew follows ventilation and cure-time guidelines to keep everyone safe.
- Buckled or lifted flooring creating a trip hazard on stairs or walkway: Please be careful walking over that area, especially on stairs, so no one trips. We'll get someone out to look at it and make it safe.
Know the terms
- Subfloor
- The structural layer beneath the finished floor; it must be flat, dry, and solid for a good result.
- Engineered wood
- Real-wood veneer over a stable plywood core; handles moisture and slabs better than solid hardwood.
- LVP / LVT
- Luxury vinyl plank or tile — a durable, waterproof click-together floor that's very popular.
- Floating floor
- A floor that clicks together and rests over the subfloor without nails or glue, needing an expansion gap at the walls.
- Acclimation
- Letting flooring sit in the home a few days so it adjusts to the humidity before installation, to prevent gapping or cupping.
- Refinishing
- Sanding down and re-staining/sealing existing hardwood to make it look new again.
