Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for the consultation / estimate?
The first conversation and estimate are free. If you'd like a full design plan, the designer explains any design fee up front before starting, so there are no surprises.
How much does a landscape design cost?
It really depends on the size of your property and how detailed the plan is, so the designer goes over that with you and gives you the exact price up front — and the estimate is free.
How soon can you come out / how long does a design take?
We can usually set up a consultation within a few days, and the designer will give you a clear timeline for the plan once they've seen the space and know what you're after.
Do you also install, or only design?
We can do the design, and depending on the project we either build it ourselves or hand you a plan your installer can follow — the designer will walk you through the options.
Can you help with drainage or a yard that floods?
Yes — drainage and grading are a big part of good design. The designer will look at how water moves on your property and build a plan to handle it. We won't guess the fix over the phone.
Do you do low-water or native designs?
Absolutely — native and drought-tolerant designs are some of our most requested. They can lower your water bill and cut down on upkeep, and the designer will tailor it to your area.
Can I see what it'll look like before I build?
Yes — many of our designs include a 3D rendering so you can see the finished look and make changes on paper before anything is built.
Can you help me pick plants?
That's one of our favorite parts — the designer chooses plants that fit your light, soil, water, and style so they thrive and look great as they grow in.
Can you work with my budget / do it in phases?
Definitely — a good designer plans around your budget and can lay it out in phases so you build a piece at a time. Just share a rough range and we'll design to fit.
Do you do pools, patios, or outdoor kitchens?
Yes — we design outdoor living spaces including pool and patio layouts, kitchens, fire features, and more, all tied into the rest of your yard.
Do you do landscape lighting design?
We do — landscape lighting is part of a complete design, and it makes a huge difference in how your yard looks and feels at night.
Do you do commercial properties?
Yes, we design for businesses and commercial properties as well as homes — just tell me a little about the site and we'll set up a consultation.
Do you handle permits or HOA approval?
The designer will let you know if your project needs permits or HOA approval and can prepare the plans you'll need for it — they'll go over that with you.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll grab your details and get a consultation set up with the designer.
⚠️ Safety first
- Downed or hanging power line on the property: Please stay well back from that line and keep kids and pets away — don't touch anything it's near, and call your power company or 911 right away. We can plan around it once it's safe.
- Leaning or bulging retaining wall / unstable slope: If a wall is leaning or bulging or a slope is slipping, please keep people and cars clear of it, since it can give way suddenly. We'll get the designer out to look and plan it safely.
- Gas smell near an outdoor line while on site: If you smell gas or rotten eggs, please move away from the area, don't light anything or flip switches, and call 911 and your gas company from a safe spot.
