Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for an estimate / to come out?
Estimates are completely free — our technician comes out, looks at your system, and gives you the exact price before any work is done.
How soon can you come / same day / emergency?
For a backup we treat it as urgent and get someone out as fast as we can, and we do same-day and emergency service.
How much to pump the tank / how much does it cost?
It depends on your tank size and access, so the technician confirms the exact price on site before starting — and the estimate is free.
How often should a septic tank be pumped?
Most homes are pumped every three to five years, but it depends on your tank size and household — the technician can look and let you know where yours stands.
Sewage is backing up into my house — what do I do?
I'm so sorry — please stop running water and flushing, keep everyone and pets away from it, and we'll get a technician headed your way right away.
There's a bad smell / soggy spot in my yard
Thanks for telling me — please keep people and pets off that area, and the technician will check the system and take care of it.
Do you do inspections for buying or selling a home?
Yes, we do septic inspections for home sales and purchases, and we can get you the report you need.
Do you install new septic systems or drain fields?
Absolutely — we install new septic systems and drain fields, and the technician can walk you through the options and give you a free estimate.
Do you handle commercial or big properties?
Yes, we service commercial and larger properties as well as home systems.
Should I use additives or treatments?
That's a great question for the technician — the most important thing is regular pumping, and he can tell you what actually helps your specific system.
My pump alarm is going off
Okay — try to go easy on water use for now, and we'll get a technician out to check the pump and get that alarm cleared.
What's your warranty / guarantee?
We stand behind our work — the technician will go over the exact warranty on your parts and service while he's there.
Do you offer financing / payment plans?
That's a good question — let me have the office confirm the current payment options and we'll go over them with you.
Do you service my area?
We're local and cover your area — I'll just grab your address and get a technician headed your way.
⚠️ Safety first
- Sewage backing up into the home or pooling in the yard: Please keep everyone and any pets away from it, and stop running water, flushing, or using the washer until we get there — that keeps it from getting worse. We'll get a technician out to you as fast as we can.
- An open tank, or a lid that's off or broken: Please do not lean over or reach into the tank, and keep children and pets well away — the gases inside can be dangerous and it's a fall risk. Cover it if you safely can and leave the rest to our technician.
- Caller mentions someone feeling dizzy, sick, or overcome near the tank: Please get them into fresh air away from the tank right away, and if they don't feel better quickly, call 911 — septic gases are toxic. Your safety comes first and we'll handle the system.
- Sewage contamination near drinking water or a well: Please don't use the tap water for drinking or cooking until it's checked, and keep the area clear. We'll get someone out to you quickly.
Know the terms
- Drain field / leach field
- The buried network of pipes and gravel where liquid from the tank soaks safely into the soil.
- Sludge and scum
- Solids that settle to the bottom (sludge) and grease that floats on top (scum); pumping removes both.
- Baffle / tee
- The inlet and outlet fittings inside the tank that keep solids from flowing out to the field.
- Effluent filter
- A screen on the tank's outlet that catches solids; it needs occasional cleaning.
- Riser
- An access shaft that brings the tank lids up to ground level so service is easier.
- Lift / pump station
- A pump and float that push effluent uphill to the drain field when gravity won't do it.
